Announcing a change in our schedule. Since Michael Harbridge has moved his broadcasts to Thursday evenings, we have moved ours to Tuesdays. Same time, same place, different day of the week,
Play with Clay Birdhouse
Tonight we started the new schedule with our clay birdhouse. It was a project from the IADCCT 2021 Virtual Convention and also won a trophy at the Midwest Ceramic Show last year. We used a soda pop can to mold the “house” wrapping clay around the can, then adding a bottom, and eventually a roof. We used texture mats to add designs to the clay cylinder and roof; then leaf forms to make leaves for on the roof; and a mini extruder to make decorative vines. After it dries for about two weeks, we will fire and then glaze the birdhouse. If you missed the broadcast, you can view the video at Carol’s Carousel Classes group on Facebook.
Underglazed Birdfeeder
Join us next week when we will use underglazes to add flowers and vines to a hanging birdfeeder.
In the Studio
It’s that time of year to make outdoor decorations. Besides birdhouses, butterfly houses, and bird feeders we have lots of realistic garden critters, lanterns for your patio, cartoon characters, gnomes, and fairy gardens. So come on over and get started on your outdoor decorating.
