Kids Krafts Virtual Summer Arts Program
Many of the projects can be done with toddlers and preschoolers as Mommy & Me projects. If you are homeschooling and need lesson plans I will gladly write them for you. All videos are on Wednesdays at 3:00. To-Go Baskets for Kids are only $10 and can be delivered (if local) or mailed.
August 26 Hand & Foot Print Art
Jeremy promises that he will help us make a Daddy’s Grilling Plate using his hand prints. Following the lesson there is a ten-minute PowerPoint presentation of projects using the hand or foot prints of babies and children. What a great idea for the kids and a nice gift for parents and grandparents.
September 2 Cookie Cutters & Clay
We will roll out some clay and use a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter direct from Disneyland in California to make a small trivet or large coaster. When dry it can be painted and glazed. After firing we add some sheet cork to the back and it’s ready to use on your table or give as a special gift.
September 9 Autumn Leaf Pasta Bowl
Today we will use leaf silkscreens to decorate a pasta bowl, then paint the leaves in bright fall colors. After painting we will spatter the whole thing and add a border to frame our picture. Perfect to hold Halloween candy or use for cereal or soup. What is more special than a bowl that your child painted themselves?
September 16 Glaze Raking Spider Web
We will use glaze raking with Concepts to make a spider web plate like the cake shown in the picture. After it is dry we can add an optional silkscreen spider. Once fired, it is safe to use for food and put in the microwave or dishwasher.
September 23 Clay Puzzling Spider
Today we will use potters clay with a special mold to form a hollow ball. Then roll and attach ropes of clay for the legs and small balls for the eyes. Using a tool, we will add dimension to the spider. After drying for about a week, we can fire and then stain or glaze our spider.
September 30 Shaving Cream Pumpkins
We use shaving cream to give us a marbled effect on the pumpkin. Just like we did with the Fourth of July Bell only this time we use stains instead of underglazes. (Remember, the bell had to be glazed so that it will ring.) Choose a variety of oranges, reds, yellows, and browns. Here we used copper to add some squiggles and paint the stem.
Facebook Live Adult Workshops
These are technique workshops for adults. However, older children can do most of the projects as well.
August 28 Halloween Plate with Sponge It’s
Our holiday sponges are on the way! Yeah! We will do something like this. We already did a Sponge It’s workshop with flowers in the Kids Krafts videos. This tree was added by the artist freehand but we do have a silkscreen we can use.
Next week I hope to have a new schedule for the adult workshops.
