Showers are Coming in 2018

same as today’s Facebook post

MORE SHOWERS ARE COMING in 2018!
Been busy thinking about more baby and bridal showers!

.. We had a bridal shower for Courtney a couple years ago called “Courtney’s Kitchen Shower”. You can see pictures on this page.[check out the menu bar]

..We had a baby shower for Dakota & Nick and there are pictures of that also.[check out the menu bar]

  • clipart baby showerNow we have a BABY BOY due in February (shower in January).
  • And a BABY SURPRISE due in June (shower in April or May?).
  • And a WEDDING in June so another bridal shower.

Of course, Grandma & Grandpa are footing the bill for these

BUT we can do showers for anyone who might be interested.
There are lots of things to make and it is a fun time painting together.
The hostess can pay for everything and have guests bring shower gifts
OR each guest can contribute to the cost of the ceramics.
All ceramics made at the shower are for the guest of honor.

You don’t even have to live nearby!
We can send you the pieces to paint.
Our family is far away so we did the last shower via Skype — 8 people in Green Bay and 8 more in the studio in Austintown.
Or you can bring your party to the studio. (maximum of about 20 guests in the studio, then come upstairs for games and refreshments)
Or we can bring the Party Van to you — to your house or to wherever you want to have your party.

Check out the new catalog page this week called Rock-a-bye Baby. It is  on the website as well as pictures of previous showers.

Here are a few links to get you started:

Catalog Update

 clipart reading rainbow

Added another page to the catalog today called Reading Rainbow. It includes things related to reading — books, bookends, and figures reading books. Reading Rainbow

Some of the bookends are plain and can accommodate a variety of different add-ons. Be creative! The book bookends are nice done in a faux leather finish. Why not make a pair for your child or grandchild that is related to their favorite passion? Then buy a book or two to make a special gift.

Glaze Raking

Here are pictures from the Glaze Raking Workshop we attended at OCS last month.

We used thinned concepts colors in squeeze bottles to add color; then “raked” through it with the tip of a liner brush. The plates were done on a turntable. After applying clear glaze the pieces were then fired.

This technique will be offered on a bowl or plate during each of the Open Classes sometime during the next few weeks. Since it doesn’t take much time to do, students will still be able to work on their regular projects. Even the kids will have fun doing this project.

Christmas decorations

The Santa Stuff page is posted and I am now working on Deck the Halls.

Please remember to also check out the following:

  • Oh Tannenbaum for Christmas trees
  • Old World Santas for highly detailed Santas (usually paint with Fashenhues)
  • Santa Stuff for simple Santas and accessories (boots, bags, hangers, etc.)
  • Ornaments for All Occasions includes mini-molds. assorted ornaments, cookie-cutter ornaments, and the Alberta ornament collection. Why not let the kids pick out a special ornament for friends, relatives, teachers, and so on. They are only $2.00 and there are about 400 to choose from
  • Christmas in the Kitchenupcoming page for plates, dishes, ice buckets, teapots, snack stacks, etc. These make lovely inexpensive, handmade gifts and are especially nice if you add some candy, cookies, teabags, hot chocolate, or snacks.

More Santas

clipart santa stuffUpdating the Catalog

  • Today I starting working on updating the catalog pages, presently Santa Stuff.  It is all about Santas and Santa accessories such as hats, bags, boots, mugs, plates, stocking hangers, candle climbers and so on.

This page is not yet published

  • Old World Santas have their own page since there are 45 of them Old World Santas. Old World Santas.
  • There are also lots of Santa-type ornaments on our many Ornament pages Ornaments for All Occasions

There are other pages on the catalog Table of Contents that still need to be created.

Deck the Halls is the next Christmas page to be added.

And there are photos, descriptions, sizes, and price changes that also need to be made on pages already there.  Always check with me on prices in case there has been a recent change.

Pumpkin Patch

clipart pumpkins

Jim and I painted cornflowers, fall leaves, and grapes on greenware pumpkins yesterday at the North Coast Clay Pots I.A.D.C.C.T Pumpkin Seminar in Risingsun, Ohio.  Several people painted pumpkins tonight in class.  There are a couple of small pumpkins on the shelf but you should call me if you want to order one. We are NOT cutting out jack-o-lantern faces unless there is a special order.

The first picture here is the project picture from the tech sheet we used at yesterday’s seminar. Next is my large pumpkin, and finally, Jim’s.  These were painted with Cover Coats (for solid coverage) and EZ strokes (translucent), two types of Duncan underglazes. You need to use them on greenware or on soft bisque. [firing to 020 prevents breakage]These pieces need to be fired to cone 03 or 04, then clear glazed and fired again. I am assured that these colors are much more brilliant than Concepts (which are underglazes developed for use on bisque).

Pumpkins that you can order. If painted with glazes these can be used for casseroles or the smaller ones for candy dishes.

Soft pumpkins. These are designed to look like made of fabric. If painted with underglazes instead of stains you can still add detailing and they can be used for food.

Here are some practical use pumpkins.

1 jar lid cover (fill a mason jar with candy corn), 2 pumpkins & mums design painted on a 15″ platter, 3 pumpkin cup holds 14 oz., 4. pumpkin-face tea-light cups.

Twelve Weeks of Christmas Event: Weeks 1 to 3

We started off this promotion first with a preview of the Twelve Days of Christmas Bears. These were so much fun to paint! The bears are $4.00 each in bisque or $40.00 for the complete set of 12.

Christmas Bears 1-3 CCCHRISTMAS BEARS 4-6 CCCHRISTMAS BEARS 7-9Twelve Days of Christmas Bears 10-12 CC

and then the Twelve Days of Christmas Bell Ornaments.  These are double sided and sell for $2.00 each in bisque or $10.00 for the set of six. In order to display all twelve days, such as hanging from a mantle or on a wreath, you will need to purchase two sets.

The promise was to add another “day” of the song each week and announce it here on Sunday. Unfortunately that didn’t happen with the lockup of our page, so I am getting you caught up to date with the preview weeks and weeks 1 to 3.

On the first day of Christmas my true love sent to me …
A Partridge in a Pear Tree.

And we have this  very practical Partridge in a Pear Tree Trivet to use on your dining table. Bisque is $6.50.  I painted mine black to match some other trivets I have, but you can use whatever color matches your kitchen décor.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me …
Two Turtle Doves, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
.

We have a lovely Dove Candle Holder. Using a semi-translucent glaze brings out the fine detailing. Again, choose a color to match your décor. You can use real or battery  candles, either  votive or tea light.  Bisque is $6.00 or two for $10.00.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me …
Three French Hens, Two Turtle Doves, and a Partridge in a Pear Tree
.

This week’s special is a Personal Chicken Casserole Dish. Perfect for individual servings, it measures 5.75″ high. Bisque is $6.50 for one or $15.00 for three.

That’s all folks!
We are now caught up and I will just add the item of the week each Sunday.
This is not a special workshop, you can paint them anytime
and any way you want to, or even take them home to do.
Make sure to order what you want so we know how many to pour.
