Game Room Updates

reposted from today ‘s Facebook page.
WORKING ON THE GAME ROOM TODAY
This may not seem to have anything to do with a ceramic studio, but in fact it does. Finished moving three bookcases from the end wall to the side wall in order to better display finished pieces. The shelves are rather crowded until Jim gets a chance to build additional shelving, but at least we can find a sample when we need it.

This project involved giving away one shelf unit of jigsaw puzzles, one shelf unit of games, and one shelf unit of books. Some of the games went upstairs (the ones we actually play), some went into the game room coffee table for when the kids from Kids Krafts finish early and need something to do. The rest went to family. The books went to the husband of a student who is involved in scouting (he is actually getting puzzles and games as well as books). Some are saved for Jesse, the math books went upstairs for tutoring, and the professional books are going to Vanessa who is setting up a resource room where she works.

The closet also got some attention today — putting away bins of Christmas bisque, bows & party supplies, carousel animals, and outdoor pieces that have been packed up. It will hold 5 stacks of 3 bins so we have a little room left.

I arranged the baseball souvenirs on the one remaining shelf unit in the far corner of the room. Then I hung up baseball pennants and mascots from our travels last year and this year. That includes Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays (2015); Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers (2016); and the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory.

There is still lots to do in the game room. We hope to be able to host showers and parties where kids or adults can play some games after finishing their painting. We are keeping the pool table, dart boards, and popcorn machine along with some party games for this purpose.

The studio has a nice clean look to it now, as well, with clean shelves, a rack for the glazes, new table covers, and so forth. We just need to stock the shelves with our winter bisque — snowmen, penguins, sleds, valentine boxes, and figurines.

Guess I am rambling a bit but it feels good to get something done. Jim went out tonight and bought a tool he needs to work on the bathroom floor. So perhaps we can get some of that project done as well.
